John E. Barber, M.D.

Dr. Barber received his medical degree from University of Texas-Houston, Texas.  He then completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon.  There he served as the Chief Resident. He has served in the both the US Naval Reserve and US Air Force. In 1993, he began his practice with Victoria Surgical Associates in Victoria, Texas.  Dr. Barber holds appointments at many of the surrounding hospitals.  At DeTar, he is the Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery, and a member of the Executive Committee, Credentials Committee and the Quality Council. At Citizens, he is a member of the Cancer Committee, Infection Control Committee and Trauma Committee.
